FIDE World Senior Chess Championship 2013

The 23rd FIDE Senior Chess Championship for men and women will be held in Opatija, Croatia from 11th to 24th November 2013. Main Organizer is the Chess Club of Rijeka.

Opatija is the oldest Croatian tourist resort, famous for its friendly climate, large botanic garden and the Central European architecture, unique in the Mediterranean area.

For the Open Seniors' tournament 222 players from 43 countries have registered, among them 12 Grandmasters, 27 International Masters and 42 FIDE Masters.

World Youth Chess Championships 2013

1640 players from 95 countries have already registered for the World Youth Chess Championship in Al Ain, U.A.E.
Registrations are open till 17th November.

Last year in Maribor, Slovenia, a participation record was achieved with 1584 players from 91 countries.

FIDE Trainers, Organizers and Arbiters' Seminars are included in the parallel program. Al Ain Classic A & B International Open tournaments will take place concurrently with the World Youth.

World Senior Championship 2015 - Call for Bids

FIDE is calling for bids for the World Senior Championship 2015.      

With effect from 1st January 2013, a bid for any FIDE Competition from 2015 onwards shall include the name of a FIDE licensed International Organizer.

Results of the FIDE International Organizers Seminar in Budva, Montenegro
FIDE IO Seminar took place in Budva, Montenegro from 4 to 6 October 2013. It was organized in the frame of the European Youth Championships. Lecturer was IO Horst Metzing (GER).

Seven participants attended the Seminar.

FIDE Identity Manual & Sponsorship Guidelines
During the 84th FIDE Congress, FIDE Events Commission presented the new edition "FIDE Identity Manual & Sponsorship Guidelines" - a professional marketing tool which will provide more information to the Organizers and will give a new dynamic to FIDE World Championships.

The Manual is developed in co-operation with "M-Spirit", a company operating in creative services, branding and events' promotion.

In the same meeting FIDE Events Commission in co-operation with the Italian association "Chess Projects ASD" and the famous Italian fashion company "Eleonora Scaramucci" presented prototype designs for players, arbiters, officers and managers.
